Trip 5 days

What to do in 5 days in Fuerteventura by van?

What better way to get to know the island of endless beaches and white sand than aboard your van.

Before setting off on our adventure, we must bear in mind that there are several protected areas and that we must be aware that we have to take care of this wonderful island.

The so-called “Canary Islands beach”.

Although we do not have great services for our vans, they have the essentials. This added to endless open spaces. They will make your trip an authentic experience that you will not forget.

Let’s start the adventure:

Day 1

  • Dunes of Corralejo

  • Promenade Corralejo – Lobos

  • Northern Highway Corralejo – El Cotillo

If we go up from the airport, we recommend not going up the highway and going towards Dunas de Corralejo, this landscape will surprise us. Along this road we have different beaches with parking, to make a stop and even enjoy a swim in these crystal clear waters and white sand.

We continue towards Corralejo. We recommend you take a walk from the marina to Waikiki beach.

You will have the island of Lobos as a privileged setting. You have the option of a guided visit to the island of wolves. In half a day you can get an idea of this wonder full of history.

At sunset we recommend the North road from Corralejo to El Cotillo, which runs along the coast. Enjoy the colors, smell, saltpeter. We can only give you advice. Take all the time you need to capture the magic of this place.

To finish, look out over Cotillo beach and see how the sun falls into the sea.

Day 2

  • El Cotillo
  • Lajares
  • Majanicho

The second day begins with a delicious breakfast watching the sea at El Cotillo beach and later enjoying a morning of sun and sand.

This beach has a lifeguard service as well as numerous surf schools.

We pick up towels and head towards Lajares. We recommend that you take a walk and feel the atmosphere of this unique area in the north of Fuerteventura. There is an innumerable range of restaurants for all tastes.

Later, head north along the Majanicho road and take a walk through this small fishing village. Amazing their houses and their surroundings.

You can make a stop along the way at one of its beaches and stop being in a hurry.

On the way down, at sunset, we recommend that you take a walk to climb the Calderón Hondo caldera. It is a 20-minute walk that will undoubtedly be one of the most memorable points of the trip.

Day 3

  • La Oliva/ Tefia/ Puertito de los Molinos
  • Betancuria
  • Highway Vega river Palma
  • Ajuy (Caves)
  • La Pared (Beach)

This day is to do a little more kilometers, but the enjoyment of the landscape is guaranteed.

We start our day, heading south.

Passing through La Oliva, capital of the North of Fuerteventura, towards Tefía on our right we will see the sacred mountain of Fuerteventura, Tindaya. Once we have passed through Tefía, we head towards the Puertito de los Molinos where we will be surprised by how wild this point is.

If we have time we can visit the Playa del Valle.

Later we go to Betancuria, a city with a very curious history from the time of arrival in the Canary Islands.

The road that goes from Betancuria to La Pared is recommended and, if possible, at sunset. (Vega de Rio Palmas)

You can enjoy numerous viewpoints, from which you will see Fuerteventura from a special point of view.

Set aside a few hours to see Ajuy. A walk to its caves is a safe bet.

And make a stop along the way at the Sicasumbre astronomical viewpoint. From this point to La Pared there are 15 minutes in which we can stop at one of the beaches indicated, especially curious for being between cliffs and black sand.

La Pared is a good spot to watch the sunset, as it is located in the west of the island.

Day 4

  • Cofete

After a busy day, we head south to visit the Jandia Natural Park.

Past Morrojable, we will see the deviation towards Cofete and Faro Punta de Jandía.

We recommend the journey to Cofete, its viewpoint, its beaches and why not, visit Casa Winter, living history of how the Second World War came to Fuerteventura.

Day 5

  • Bad Name Beach

  • Leeward Beach

  • The little beaches

  • Entallada Lighthouse

  • The salt flats

Last day and we visit the “Playas de Canarias” area, the east of the island. We start from the south, for a day of towel and sea between the beaches of Mal Nombre and Playa del Canario. For the bravest it is a luxury to see the sunrise there and take a bath.

Once the towel is lifted, we can go to eat in the Las Playas area, Gran Carajal. Further north we can turn off to see the Entallada Lighthouse, with its minimalist and charming road.

Finally and to end this day, Las Salinas del Carmen, hide us some working salt mines, which can be visited. With a good area to rest.

We hope that these recommendations will help you to get to know this island, on the other hand. If you have any questions, remember that you can contact your VANSTYLE ADVISOR at any time.
