Europe proposes to increase the maximum authorized mass (MMA) of category B licenses to 4250 kg.
Great news for road trip enthusiasts! The European Parliament has approved an exciting proposal that will revolutionize motorhome travel. Starting in 2025, you’ll be able to drive motorhomes weighing up to 4,250 kg with your category B driving license, provided it has been held for a minimum of two years.
This new regulation, proposed by the European Federation of Caravaning, expands the possibilities of adventure by allowing you to enjoy more extensive and more equipped motorhomes, regardless of their propulsion system. Whether electric, hybrid, hydrogen fuel cell or traditional combustion engines, you can explore every corner of the Canary Islands with complete freedom.
Previously, the required license for motorhomes over 3,500 kg was the C1 license. Still, thanks to this new legislation, you can drive them with your B license. Even if you decide to tow a trailer of up to 750 kg, if the total weight does not exceed 4,250 kg, you can handle it with the B96 authorization.
