Beginner’s mistakes to avoid on your first trip in a van
When we start a project it is common that we make mistakes when we begin to roll, so in this blog we will reveal some of the most common mistakes that are made when traveling in a van for the first time so you can avoid them.
Thinking that your camper is like your car
At the beginning of your adventure you must take into account that your GPS does not know the dimensions of your vehicle, so you can trace your route through places where a conventional car would pass but your camper may not, so you must visualize your trip before you start and not leave everything in the hands of your navigator.
You should also inform yourself of the legislation of the countries and communities through which you are going to pass, as camping is not allowed in all places.
Charge your van’s water tank as much as possible.
A priori this idea seems good but you have to be aware that in many cases the water tanks of the campers can have a capacity of up to 100 litres, which would be equivalent to 100 kilos of extra weight on your trip that could prevent you from carrying other more necessary luggage in it, since as we all know, all vehicles must respect a maximum load weight.
Not planning your route correctly
This is arguably the most common mistake and the one that can cause the most problems on your journey. You must take into account not only the points of interest you want to visit and get to know, but also how long you intend to stay in them, the gas stations along your route, several camping areas in case any of them are full or where you can buy food are some of the things to take into account when planning your route.
